Nice aluminium early war produced dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' in used, but very good condition.
The tag shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 1.Kompanie I.Bataillon Infanterie Regiment 655. This regiment was formed in March 1940 in Lublin, Poland. It was part of the 379.Infanterie-Division.
In July 1940 part of the regiment was used to form Wach-Bataillone 655. The rest of the Regiment moved to Germany and was used to form Heimatwach Bataillone I und II Infanterie Regiment 655. I.Bataillon became Landesschützen Bataillon 623 in early 1941 and II.Bataillon became Landesschützen Bataillon 624.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
