Nice worn dog tag from a soldier who served in the 1.Kompanie Bau-Bataillon 229.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 1.Kompanie Bau-Bataillon 229. This unit was formed in August 1939. It was formed from RAD members. In early 1941 it was transferred to the Luftwaffe and renamed Luftwaffen-Bau-Bataillon 18/XI.
In the winter of 1943/1944 the Luftwaffe soldiers were replaced by Prisoners of War and the unit was renamed Luftwaffen-Bau-Bataillon 118/XI (K). It operated in the area of Schaulen, Lithuania.
