The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. The Granatwerfer kompanie was part of Infanterie Ersatz Regiment 211. It trained and supplied soldiers for 211.Infanterie-Division. Also known as 'Sperrgruppe Eckhardt'.
In September 1944 the regiment was mobilized as the Walküre-Regiment and deployed in the west. The 'B' on both parts of the tag stands for the bloodtype. On the back of the tag his POW number (31*235446*) is carved in.
A Grenatwerfer unit was equipped with a 5cm,8cm,10cm or 12cm mortar.
Interesting and harder to find EKM.
