Nice worn dog tag from a soldier who served in the 1.Genesende Kompanie Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon 389.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows normal signs of wear. Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 389 was formed in the August of 1939 in Sendsburg and in November 1942 renamed and divided in Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon 389 and Grenadier Ausbildungs Bataillon 389. From the beginning its trained and delivered soldier for Infanterie Regiment 389 which was part of the 217.Infanterie-Division. In late 1942 the division and her units were active in the Wolchow area. The regiment was used to form Regimentsgruppe 389 by the end of 1943. In 1944 the Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon 389 also trained and supplied soldiers for the 114.Jäger-Division. This division was active in Italy. It fought in areas like Nettuno,Monte Cassino, Rimini and Northen Italy.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the bloodtype of the soldier.
