The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the '1.Batterie Schwere Flak Ersatz Abteilung 463'. This unit was formed in April 1941 with 5 batteries, 1-3 Schwere (8,8cm or 10,5cm) and 4-5 Leichte (2cm 3,7cm or 5cm).
In the summer of 1942 the entire abteilung became a Schwere Abteilung. In the summer of 1943 the abteilung was enlarged with 3 extra batteries making it 8 batteries in total. The 1 batterie was the entire war stationed in Bochum. The 'B' on both parts of the tag stands for the bloodtype of the soldier.
