Very nice aluminium 1.Vermessungs-Batterie Beochtungs Abteilung 6 erkennungsmarke in very good condition.
The tag shows overall normal signs of wear. The abteilung was formed in October 1936 in Lemgo as part of the 6.Infanterie-Division. It was first put into action during the invasion of Belgium and then France. After France it participated in the invasion of Russia during Operation Barbarossa in June 1941. In March 1942 the 1.Batterie and 4.Batterie of the abteilung was disbanned.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
Interesting dog tag of a not often seen unit.
