Very nice aluminium Artillerie Regiment 21 dog tag in used, but good condition.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the '1.Batterie Artillerie Regiment 21'. Also known as Regiment Elbing, named after its commander. A regiment that was formed in 1934! The regiment was part of the 21.Infanterie-Division. It was first put into action during the Poland Invasion in September 1939. In May 1940 it participated in the invasion of France via Belgium and Luxembourg.
In June 1941 it took part in the invasion of Russia via Tilsit (Litauen) and fought the upcomming years mainly in the Ladoga area and later via Riga, Tilsit back to Ostpreussen.
The erkennungsmarke has stammrollnummer 8 which indicates its and early one.
