Nice Wehrmacht Artillerie related tag in used condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 1.(10cm) II.Abteilung schwere Artillerie Regiment 47. This abteilung was formed in mid October 1935 in Lötzen. It saw it's first combat during the invasion of Poland in September 1939 as part of the I.Armee-korps. After the Poland campaign it moved to the west and in February the rest of the abteilung was re-armed with heavy howitsers (schwere Feldhaubitze) hence the crossed-out '(10cm)' and the '(sFH)' beneath it. During the invasion of Belgium and then France the unit was part of the III.Armee-korps. From June 1941 onwards the unit fought on the eastern front. In June 1944 the II.Abteilung was renamed into Heeres Artillerie Abteilung II/47.
Nice hard to find tag.
