Nice aluminium Wehrmacht Grenadier related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. The soldier served/ was drafted in the 1.Kompanie Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon (M) 276. This bataillon was formed in April 1944 in Wuppertal from soldiers of Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon 484 and to register soldiers with stomach ailments, hence the '(M)' which stands in this case for 'Magenkranken'.
In March 1945 the bataillon was moved to Denmark where it became part of the 233.Reserve Panzer Division. In late March the bataillon was used to replace parts of Grenadier Regiment 590 which was part of the 328.Infanterie-Division. In April 1945 the bataillon was deployed in the Kolding area.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
