Nice Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but good condition.
The early tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It's broken, but solid and complete. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 1.Kompanie Ersatz Bataillon Infanterie Regiment 489. This regiment was formed in September 1939 in Oldenburg and was part of the 269.Infanterie-Division. This division saw its first combat during the invasion of Belgium. After that it stayed in Holland and Denmark. It later fought in Russia in the areas of Pleskau, Leningrad and Ladoga-See. In November 1942 it moved to Norway and in late 1944 to the Vogese, France.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
