Nice worn zinc Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 1.Kompanie Ersatz Bataillon Infanterie Regiment 19. This regiment dates back to even far before the war. It was part of the 100.000 soldier Reichswehr. In October 1935 it became Infanterie Regiment 19. It was part of the 7.Infanterie-Division and saw it's first combat during the invasion of Poland in September 1939 and in May 1940 participated in the invasion of Belgium.
In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia and operated in areas like Minsk, Gshatsk, Demjansk, Orelbogen, Pripjet and Narew.
The 'A' on both parts on the back stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
