Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht Bau related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 1.Kompanie Bau Bataillon 314. This unit was formed in late August 1939. In April 1940 the unit was renamed into Festungs Bau Bataillion 314. It participated in the eastern front campaign. In May 1942 the bataillon was disbanned and the companies were divided among several other Bau units. The 1.Kompanie was used to form Festungs Bau Bataillon 5 and operated in the South of Russia. In August 1943 the bataillon was renamed into Festungs Pionier Bataillon 5. In the year 1944 it operated on the Krim.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
