The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. Although a find the tag is solid. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 1.Kompanie Gebirgs Pionier Ersatz Bataillon 54. This bataillon was formed in August 1941 in Mittenwald. It trained and supplied soldiers for 4 different Gebirgs Pionier Bataillons.
The 'O' on the back on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
