Very nice Luftwaffe Flak related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 1.batterie Flak Abteilung 643. This unit was formed in late August 1939 in Duisburg as Reserve Flak Abteilung 643 and consisted out 5 batteries (1-4 heavy 5 scheinwerfer). The 1.batterie operated in Dorsten, Germany.
In late 1942 the abteilung became schwere Flak Abteilung 643. In 1943 the the 1.batterie was used to formed the 2.batterie Flak Abteilung 256 and a new 1.batterie Flak Abteilung 643 was formed which again operated in the area of Dorsten.
Flak Abteilung 256 was put into action in Italy in areas like Anzio, Bologna and Rimini.
The soldier of this tagwas made prisoner of war and he carved in his POW number 'A900250' on the back of his tag.
The 'B' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
