Nice worn aluminium Wehrmacht Artillerie related tag in used, but overall good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. Its a well preserved ground find. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 1.batterie leichte Artillerie Abteilung 744. This unit was formed in late September 1939 and was part of the 2.Gebirgs-Division. In Mai 1940 the Abteilung became Artillerie Regiment 744, but was this regiment was used to form a new Artillerie Regiment 209 in June 1940 which was part of the 209.Infanterie-Division.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype. Note the letter 'q' they used as the 'g' of Abteilung.
